Fluxie, the web feed reader with archiving features

Status: alpha (since 10 years now), but working.

Fluxie is a RSS and Atom feed reader. It fetches new articles from feeds, and you can read them, oldest to newest, in a list of articles, like a blog.

It can also archive the content of the posts including:

Features

Installation

Requirements:

Download the source code:

wget https://fossil.kd2.org/fluxie/zip/trunk/fluxie.zip
unzip -d fluxie fluxie.zip
cd fluxie/src
make deps

Then create a virtualhost pointing to the src/www directory.

Finish by creating the feeds configuration, and visit the virtual host you just created. Click "Manage" and "Update all feeds" to fetch content from feeds.

Warning: Note that currently Fluxie doesn't have a password management feature, so you want to create a .htaccess file to protect the access with a password.

Configuring the feeds

Create text file in src/data/feeds.ini and create your feeds as in this example:

; Example comment
[seenthis]
cat="News"
title="Seenthis.net / bohwaz"
url="https://seenthis.net/people/bohwaz"
feed="https://seenthis.net/people/bohwaz/follow/feed"
archive=0
update_interval=24
fetch_content=false
css_selector=null

The configuration can also be edited from the "Manage" link, and then "Edit feeds".

You can also subscribe to a new feed by discovering the feed from the URL, in "Manage".

Cron task

Set up a cron job like this to update the feeds every day:

@daily php /home/bohwaz/www/fluxie/src/scripts/update_all.php
